Visitors to Gallery by the Lakes can see a collection of unique jewellery alongside the vivid paintings which have inspired the collaboration as two new artists join a number of prestigious artists exhibiting in the gallery.
The reopening of the galleries at Sculpture by the Lakes is marked with an exclusive addition. Post Coronavirus lockdown visitors to The Gallery by the Lakes can see a collection of unique jewellery alongside the vivid paintings which have inspired the collaboration as two professional artists join a select number of prestigious artists exhibiting in the gallery.
The Wonderment collection of jewellery from Miranda Peckitt and the paintings of Kathryn Thomas are now installed in The Gallery by the Lakes at Sculpture by the Lakes. This follows the announcement that art galleries can now open to the public. The new exhibition features the bold and unique ‘wearable art’ of jewellery designer Miranda Peckitt of Very Colourful Jewellery and Kathryn Thomas’s original, vibrant and evocative oil paintings.
Their connection began more than 15 years ago when Poole-based artist Kathryn discovered the jewellery of Michael Peckitt – Miranda’s father, in a gallery where she was exhibiting her paintings. Before long, his pieces were the only jewellery she wore; she even gave each of her 14 bridesmaids a piece when she got married in 2009. Her love of the jewellery led Kathryn to reach out via email to Miranda, who worked alongside her father, and is now continuing his legacy following his death in 2012.
Miranda’s jewellery now takes inspiration from the bold and bright colour palette used in Kathryn’s collections. These two talented professionals, each a great admirer of the others’ work, have brought their creative talents together which is now on show at Sculpture by the Lakes exclusively.
