Kathryn’s Studio in Poole, Dorset has now closed. You can see from the images it consisted of four rooms suitable for displaying artwork including the Dirty Studio where her paintings began life and the Clean Studio, a tranquil and dedicated exhibition environment. The Studio had the benefit of differing directional light so paintings were viewed under a variety of lighting conditions.
Comments made by visitors:
“A blaze of colours in pictures to capture your imagination”
“All the weather in one”
“Uplifting – a feast for the eyes”
“The longer you look the more you feel”
“Mesmerising, ethereal, soul reaching, you have captured space”
As much as welcoming visitors to Poole, it would be short-sighted not to recognise that London is the centre of the UK art scene. Over the years, Kathryn has exhibited in a variety of London venues such as Cork St, Regents Park College, Daniel Galvin’s Salon, Business Design Centre, the Barbican, Olympia and One Alfred Place, Fitzrovia. 2016 saw the start of a series of successful shows at the Royal Opera Arcade Gallery in Pall Mall.
For the first 20 years of her career, Kathryn exhibited predominantly at various venues in Bristol where she continued to live and work after graduating.
In 2009, she staged ‘Lightyears’, her biggest ever solo show, filling the 5000sq ft Paintworks Event Space. As much a performance as an exhibition, the daylight pieces hung in bright surroundings. By contrast, the nightlight paintings hung in Darkspace, an ethereal blacked out area backed by a commissioned soundtrack and atmospheric lighting.
Kathryn has proved popular with numerous galleries across the country. Most notable amongst these have been the Modern Artists Gallery in Whitchurch-on-Thames near Pangbourne, Harris Interiors Gallery in Poole and the Sarah Wiseman Gallery in Oxford.
