During this extraordinary year I have been exhibiting at The Gallery by the Lakes, set in the stunning grounds of Sculpture by the Lakes, near Dorchester. Nestled in 26 acres of Dorsetʼs glorious countryside this oasis for art lovers and collectors, created by renowned sculptor Simon Gudgeon and his wife, Monique has recently been voted in the top 13 best Sculpture Parks in the world.
The Gallery by the Lakes has three different locations within the park, making it the largest gallery space in the south west and affording the visitor the opportunity to view and experience quality and original art in different environments. For those of you familiar with Kathryn Thomas Original Oil Paintings and who may have visited the The Studio off Poole Quay you will understand the importance of light and how, as it changes, it reveals more in the paintings.
Whilst there is the more formal setting of the main gallery space The Retreat situated between the lake, brook and the River Frome offers additional tranquility in a truly unique setting.
At the time of writing the nation is coming to the end of a second Lockdown. Sculpture by the Lakes remains open as the regulations allow for ‘paid for entry gardens’ to continue to offer a safe environment for people to get their exercise and recreation – along with their cultural fix too – albeit by looking in through the large sliding doors for the time being.
With the lifting of Lockdown The Retreat is open to offer an intimate viewing of Kathryn’s paintings with founder of the Sculpture Park Simon Gudgeon’s Collection and Figurative sculptures alongside selected Gallery by the Lakes artists. There is also an elevated viewing platform to enjoy the tranquil setting of The Retreat. Visitor numbers to the park have been reduced even further so there is more space to enjoy and with The Café by the Lakes open for takeaways you can sit and relax or warm up with a drink and food, taking your time to contemplate…
The Wonderment Jewellery Collection is exclusively available through The Gallery by the Lakes, from the collaboration with Very Colourful Jewellery’s designer Miranda Peckitt who has taken inspiration from my original oil paintings to create a bespoke collection of unique wearable art.
