“My ironing board has been set up right in front of ‘Intimate’ and sometimes I‘ve glanced up feeling hot and bothered and felt the same sense of joy and uplift I first felt when I saw the painting in your studio exhibition. I couldn’t look away – I love the broiling maelstrom of colour and movement towards the bottom of the picture – with that beautiful flash of green at its heart. Then my gaze is drawn upwards and out to calmer and peaceful apricots, peaches and creams, like an evening sky at sunset. “
