‘Give me these moments’

Inspired by the power and heat of ‘fire’, wherever and whatever the source, sky bound auroral or earth bound manmade… ‘Give me these moments’ offers a further interpretation depending on the orientation of the painting as it can be read differently if it is hung portrait or landscape.
Throughout my career I have been painting fire, flames and heat, it is a subject that I don’t seem to be able to leave alone. Looking back for the initial interest I identify an experience from over 30 years ago as a young artist out there trying to establish her mark. I was intrigued by the distortion of heatwaves, smoke and light literally clouding the horizon and entering a realm of mirage. What was really happening?
The experience was taken to its maximum when I found myself lying in a countryside ditch, with my bike on top of me, having taken drastic action from a sudden change in wind direction whilst out observing the farmers practice of ‘stubble burning’.
