For her 2016 exhibition, Kathryn chose the title ‘Contemplation – what do you think you can see?’ – a tidy link between the thoughts stirred in her by a recent trip to Cuba and those she hopes her paintings conjure in her viewers. As with most of her collections, the ‘Contemplation’ paintings range in their intensity from thunderously dramatic to cotton gloved softness. Some of her works may be more suggestive than others but her aim is that her viewers immerse themselves into the painting, spend time contemplating and finally allow themselves to express their vision. And are they right in what that vision is? Well, of course they are – whatever it might be.
All works are pure oil paint on superfine, Berge linen stretched around tulipwood frames. The slideshow displays the whole collection including, where marked, those which have been sold.
